A CNN report this week that our government’s transportation security agency is considering significantly reducing passenger screening at more than 100 small and mid-size airports may come as good news to those of us who have grown to hate the long wait that comes with flying anywhere today.
But I’m wondering if we will be less secure because of it?
I’m all for a streamlined system, and one that treats we airport users as something more than cattle.
However, if the TSA goes through with the plan I’m wondering if it won’t give those who mean to do us harm easier access to the jets carrying the rest of us?
If I am aware of the potential policy change, I’m sure a potential terrorist would know that the affected airports would be the ones to use.
The government says the screening changes under consideration would save more than 100 million dollars that could be used to beef up security at larger airports.
I suspect there are other places that Uncle Sam could find the money without potentially jeopardizing our safety.
That’s the way I see it.
