Is it time to pull the plug on a long standing white house tradition?
When it comes to Presidents inviting sports champions to photo-op ceremonies, I think the answer is yes!
Maybe because I’m one of the millions of Americans who have had to submit to long delays, and annoying rules and regulations, just to tour the White House.
I think it’s time our chief executives devoted their time to, say, solving the health care crisis, working toward world peace, or almost any other pressing task.
President Trump’s cancellation of a planned ceremony honoring the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles after he got word that some players would refuse to stand and put a hand over their heart when the U.S. Marine Corps band played The National Anthem, has resulted in the storm of opinions on both sides that I guess we should expect.
But my question is, why bother?
I think Presidents could find better use of their time than posing for pictures with athletes, especially if the athletes don’t want to be there.
That’s the way I se it.
