At a time when many service clubs are struggling to find new members and keep the membership they have engaged, there are a few which are seeing growth.
They are becoming more involved, and fostering the spirit of volunteerism, that has made this area such a great place to live.
One of them is the Delphos Kiwanis Club, whose membership has grown to 72 due in large part to the work they’ve done to improve the parks and recreational facilities in Delphos.
At the same time that they’re working feverishly to complete a splash pad project at the city’s municipal swimming pool that resulted from raising well over 300 thousand dollars, group members have set about getting things ready for their annual Fourth of July celebration next week.
This event has grown to become one of the best places to spend the holiday in our area.
This year’s celebration will include an appearance by a very good Michigan based band called “Your Generation” Monday night July 3rd at 9pm at Stadium Park in Delphos.
Check them out on Youtube and you’ll want to plan to spend some time enjoying them while you have some food and refreshments in the beer tent.
Softball, volleyball, baseball, corn hole tournaments, a 10-mile firecracker bike ride, basket bingo, and free rides for the kids are just some of the attractions planned on the July 4th holiday.
Plus “live” music from Deuces Wild and the Red Necks, as well as, a big fireworks show to put an exclamation point on the days activities.
Volunteers from inside and outside the club will help to make the event happen and everyone is welcome.
Hope to see you there!
That’s the way I see it.
