With Christmas day 2017 in the rear-view mirror, I’ve been intrigued once again at how rapidly we as a people are ready to make the Christmas season a thing of the past, like an old worn out toy or pair of shoes that don’t fit.
Online and big-box retailers are moving as quickly as possible to get rid of inventory for the season and turn their attention to the next big thing which I suppose is probably Valentines Day.
As a fan of the music, movies and good personal interactions that are part of the season year in and year out, I’m kind of sad to see another Christmas go realizing that the odds say the number I’ll get to enjoy are far surpassed by those in my past.
But for now, it’s time to put away my Christmas cd’s and get ready for a new year that’s right around the corner.
I’m hoping at least some of the goodwill generated by the acts of kindness and generosity that accompanied this Christmas season will help to carry us through what looks to be a long and cold winter.
That’s the way I see it.
