A true rock ‘n roll legend is celebrating a birthday milestone today.
Frankie Valli turns 83 years old looking at a more than 5 decades long career in the music business in the rear view mirror as are so many others who shaped the sound we still love to share on Fun 107.1.
Valli was in his 20’s when he started as frontman for the 4 Seasons and sang lead on some of their most well known songs
Those classic hits include “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Sheri Baby” just to name a few.
Songs I admit that are both still among my all time favorites.
The groups’ adaptation of the Cole Porter hit “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” is a real 60’s classic too.
His solo career gave us hits like “My Eyes Adore You” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”, but I’ll forgive him for disco-era endeavors like December 1963.
The Broadway play and movie “Jersey Boys” introduced the work of Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons to millions of new potential fans.
My bride and I watched a Frankie Valli show at the Civic Center in Lima when he was in his late 60’s.
And at that time he could still hit almost all of the high notes, which for anyone who’s spent any time singing, is a real accomplishment.
Happy Birthday, Frankie.
I hope you have a bunch more.
That’s the way I see it
