When it comes to physical activity, I suppose I’m somewhere in the middle of the pack for folks of my age and in my profession.
I walk a mile to work every weekday morning, and walk that same mile home most afternoons.
And I’m much more likely to be doing something other than sitting in my recliner after work or on weekends.
But truth be told, most of the work I get paid for happens while I’m on my can.
I avoid the treadmill and exercise bike like the plague because I easily get bored staying in the same spot.
My email inbox and news sources are bombarded every day with advice from self professed experts on what I should and shouldn’t do in the way of fitness.
They try to tell me what foods I should eat and what foods I should avoid.
Frankly, I’d prefer bacon over broccoli, and bologna over stewed beats, and coffee over cranberry juice.
But at least I think more now about calories, carbs and other sugars than I used to.
The experts say that’s a start to a healthier lifestyle, and they assure me they know more than I do.
The most unfortunate thing of all is that the better something is to the taste, the worse it is for you…and vice versa!
ie Hershey Bars and Brussel Sprouts respectively.
That’s the way I see it.
