A website I enjoy more than most others is celebrating it’s birthday today February 15th.
You may be surprised to learn, as I was, that YouTube has only been around for 12 years.
Like most other facets of the online world in which we live, it seems it’s been a source of information and entertainment on topics ranging from the historic to the ridiculous for much longer than that.
Most of my YouTube searches involve quests for history related footage.
Although the video is lost on me for obvious reasons, I’m fascinated by the recordings that are available on virtually everything from the past 8 decades or more.
Old TV shows, old commercials, and old music clips can also be found in my YouTube history listings.
YouTube has also turned into a great place for do-it-yourself information on everything from changing spark plugs on a Honda to changing the belt on an old washing machine.
I can only imagine the kind of corporate skepticism that probably greeted the person who came up with the idea of video sharing, but I’m wishing I had thought of it first.
If I had, I bet I could be sleeping in past 1:25 a.m.
That’s the way I see it.
