It’s amazing what the impact of a new idea can have on a community.
What started out as a Delphos Canal Days committee fundraising project, has generated more local discussion and more social media buzz than I’ve seen in years.
Folks who’ve paid $30.00 each for the privilege have painted many of the 300 fire hydrants in Delphos with a wide variety of cartoon characters, team logos, and other animals which have popped up all over the community.
There’s a Facebook page that’s been devoted to the fire hydrant art and people as young as my 3 year old grandson are excited as they can be when they see a newly painted one.
The fire hydrant artwork will be voted on at the Delphos Chamber of Commerce office during the Canal Days celebration September 15 through 17.
I’m betting there’ll be a lot of interest in picking the best of the best.
That’s the way I see it.
