The season known as Lent begins Wednesday March 1st with what has become a traditional event where I reside in Delphos.
The event invites participants of all ages to do a little praying, a little running, or a little walking.
The annual “run your ashes off” 5K run and 1.3 mile walk steps off at the St. Johns annex building on south Jefferson street Wednesday evening at 5:30pm.
Following a brief prayer service, there will be a distribution of ashes at 5:15pm prior to the exercise portion of the evening.
Last year over a hundred people braved freezing cold conditions to take part in the event, which is open again this year to everyone from the community.
It’ll cost just $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for students to “run your ashes off”.
Funds raised will go to support the St. Vincent DePaul society, which assists the less fortunate in the community throughout the year.
If you haven’t signed up, but would like to take part, just show up and you’ll be welcome.
Sounds like fun to me, and plus I can use the exercise as much as anyone!
That’s the way I see it.
