A football season that started when most of us were still grilling out or spending time in the pool comes to a close this weekend with Super Bowl 51.
I would have used the term “climax” instead of “close” but my beloved hapless Browns will be watching the game from their living rooms this Sunday just like me.
For some of us, there will be interest in whether the Atlanta Falcons can destroy the dream that Tom Brady and the rest of his New England Patriot teammates have of yet another NFL title.
For many of the rest of us, the game will provide an excuse to get together with family or friends to try that tasty new dip recipe, enjoy a beverage or more, and decide which of the game commercials is funniest or the most ridiculous.
The Super Bowl has grown from a simple championship game on a Sunday night at seasons end to a sort of celebration that winter is half over.
Whoever you root for, or for whatever reason you’ll be watching, I hope you’ll enjoy the game
And I hope you do so safely.
If you’re planning to drink, be sure to designate someone to drive you home.
I know I will!
That’s the way I see it.
