The older I get the number of stories I read that make me shake my head in disbelief gets smaller all the time. However, I must admit the item below that crossed my desk early today is one of them.
Stark Inmates Receive Narcan At Release
(Canton, OH) — Some Stark County Jail inmates will be going home with Narcan when they’re released. The sheriff’s office and Ohio Department of Health launched the pilot program this week, offering the opioid antidote to inmates who are at risk of overdosing. Those inmates had been encouraged to visit a Project DAWN site after release to receive Narcan.
Reading this, I can’t help but wonder how anyone could consider this a good idea. That’s the way I see it.
