I’ve been around a lot of people all of my life.
I’ve heard quite a few dumb things said, but few compare with something I heard Tuesday.
And what I heard was on an elevator at the James Cancer Center in Columbus, which is a place where painstaking efforts are made to keep cancer patients from being afflicted by the flu.
From the back of a crowded elevator from a man without a mask, and what sounded like a fewer than normal number of teeth came the statement “I think you should know that we have the flu.”
The “we” he was referring to was he and his wife.
He went on to say “Our daughter here has a cold, but she hasn’t gotten the flu because we breast feed”.
I found myself leaning toward the door as far as I could, while others on the elevator reacted by saying that they wanted to walk the rest of the way down.
I’m not sure why this guy thought he should show his stupidity, or try to sell breast feeding as a life style choice, but I hope his flu didn’t spread to anyone else who couldn’t get away from him fast enough!
Forrest Gump said it best…”Stupid is as stupid does!”
That’s the way I see it.
