If you do a Google search to find the most successful American entrepreneurs, you won’t find the name of Jimmy Buffet on it.
However, I’m of the opinion that you should.
Born James William Buffet in Pascagoula Mississippi on Christmas Day 1946, this one time billboard magazine writer and yacht first mate has turned a music career that started with a few 1970’s hits in to a multi-million dollar empire.
That includes the “Margaritaville” and “Cheeseburger In Paradise” restaurant franchises.
It also includes the newly announced “Senior” living complex in Florida that will include hundreds of homes, a beach house, spa health club, and fitness facility.
Concerts featuring Buffet and his “Coral Reefer Band” sell out in minutes, and his fans gobble up his albums by the hundreds.
I found it interesting that his only music award came from the country music association for his 2004 collaboration with Alan Jackson on “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere”.
This singer, songwriter, author, film producer, and businessman is among the best examples I know of the kind of entrepreneurial spirit that has made America great.
That’s the way I see it.
