2019 Canal Days.. Food,Fun and my thoughts
I’m really looking forward to Canal Days in Delphos this year.
Not just because the celebration which begins tonight with a Toast To The Community event that’s expected to see record attendance, and concludes Sunday with a big parade, entertainment and an annual raffle drawing has turned in to one of the bigger annual events in the area.
Last year, in the midst of chemotherapy and because of doctors’ advice to avoid large crowds during treatment, I missed virtually all of the celebration.
Over the last 40 plus years I’ve witnessed an event that’s at least quadrupled in size because of the work of a group of volunteers who love their community and enjoy giving back to it.
This year, visitors will see a new location for the social tent at the site of what was an abandoned industrial building at 4th and
Main Street covered by a tent large enough to accommodate hundreds of people regardless of the weather.
There’s a host of activities planned for people of all ages Friday through Sunday and if you attend Canal Days you’ll be helping to raise funds that are distributed to a wide variety of community causes.
I hope you’ll plan to take in canal days this year.
I know I will.
That’s the way I see it.
