With the 51st Super Bowl week upon us, we’ve been hearing calls from some to make the day after the “Big Game” a federal holiday.
Personally, such a move might make it more likely that early risers like me might stay awake past half time.
But most would agree that in the current political climate, such a move is far from likely.
As an alternative, why don’t we just move the Super Bowl to the Sunday prior to the Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday?
All that would have to happen is that the NFL eliminate the ridiculous bye week during the season and shorten the time between the end of the season until the Super Bowl from 2 weeks to 1.
A side benefit would be that the Pro-bowl might become a thing of the past, relegated to join the long list of made-for-TV events that no one cares about.
Our President says it’s time to think outside the box.
That’s the best I can do at that for now.
That’s the way I see it.
