I’ve never thought of myself as qualified to be a sportswriter.
But I do enjoy listening to the reaction of fans to, what is as I write this, a record setting 21 game winning streak for my beloved Cleveland Indians.
It seems to depend on whether you’re the person who sees the glass as half full or half empty, or the one who looks at the sky and sees it as partly sunny or partly cloudy.
Half full glass person sees the streak and says what the “Tribe” has done is amazing. Because, unlike the 1935 Chicago Cubs, the “Tribe” are playing against teams composed of the best players from several countries.
Half empty glass guy points out that because of expansion, the competition is actually far more watered down that it was 82 years ago.
Regardless of how you see it, it is clear the Indians have accomplished something that’s pretty amazing.
And perhaps, just maybe, baseball fans in Cleveland won’t have to say “wait until next year” this year.
That’s the way I see it.
