The vast majority of people I know are ready to get back to life as we knew it prior to the start of the pandemic, and are happy that we will no longer have to wear face masks in most cases and can enjoy family and community gatherings and events again this summer, a newly released poll indicates that is not the case for all of us in America. The new Gallop survey indicates that nearly 25 percent of respondants are still completely or mostly isolating from others inside their homes because of Covid19 concerns. The survey doesn’t indicate whether a majority of those people have been vaccinated or not, but the percentage is surprisingly large to me. Fear is one of the most powerful of influences on many people, and this new poll seems to prove it. One wonders what it will take, or how long it will take, to convince those people that it is OK to start living again. That’s the way I see it.
