46 years at WDOH……..
I spent a lot of time over the weekend trying to think of something positive I could write a blog about for this mornings’ PBR in the morning show. After a week of rioting in many major U.s. cities and with the anger many people close to home seem to be feeling over the state of continuing Pandemic related restrictions I thought I could only say that it looks like we are in for a long hot summer in America. That is until my PBR in the morning colleague Phil Austin reminded me this morning that today June 1st is the 46th anniversary of my full time employment at WDOH. I had thought about the approaching milestone a few times in the recent past but not this morning. I just got up, walked to work and started my day around 2:30 a.m. this morning just like always. Getting to do something you love for 46 years is something I am extremely appreciative for. It’s always gratifying when someone reminds me of a radio station tour they took in the 70’s or 80’s or when someone younger than me tells me how as growing up as a kid they couldn’t wait for me to tell them their school would be canceled for the day.. Because I’ve become increasingly aware that longevity and life itself are not long term guarantees, I can only say thanks to the many listeners and business sponsors who’ve supported WDOH and me over the years. It’s been a very good ride and I’m not ready to jump off this horse any time soon. That’s the way I see it.
