Some of the comments made on social media by some Amazon customers this week have me shaking my head in bewilderment. After the richest man in the world, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and 3 others took an 11 minute long space flight on Tuesday, in a space craft built by his space venture company Blue Origin, Bezos thanked Amazon workers and customers for helping to pay for the multi-million dollar excursion. Some amazon customers took to social media to call his remarks tone-deaf. Others said they wanted a refund for their Amazon purchases. I hope they are not holding their breath. Bezos is a multi-billionaire. He didn’t get there by giving customers refunds, just because they are unhappy. It seems to me that the comment from Bezos is just stating the obvious. Of course Amazon customers helped to pay for the trip to the edge of space. If you are unhappy that in some way you helped Bezos to realize his space-flight dream, you do have an option. You can purchase the things you’re buying through Amazon somewhere else. That’s the way I see it.
