Results of a newly released survey provide some positive news for small business owners who have taken it on the chin in a number of ways because of the Coronavirus pandemic. 76 percent of the respondents to a survey conducted by UPS say they are more inclined to shop for this holiday season at small businesses. 53 percent say they will spend holiday shopping dollars during Small Business Saturday later this month. 56 percent of them plan to make purchases inside small businesses, the rest using small business websites. Those planning to shop small businesses this year say they will do so because small businesses support their local economies, provide more unique products and offer better customer service than big stores or on line vendors. We’ve all heard for years that small business is the backbone of our economy. We have the opportunity to prove that we understand that this holiday season. That’s the way I see it.
