A story from our news partners at Metro Networks this morning points out just how much danger our youths face, especially in our major cities.
17-year old Michael Chappman, a student at Cleveland’s John Hay High School who quarterbacked his schools’ football team to a Cleveland city championship just last year, has died in a hospital in his home town of a wound from a drive-by shooting July 6th.
Reports indicate Chappman had gone to a small city park with a friend after he got off work that day, and was caught in gunfire that claimed his life on Sunday.
Hundreds of people turned out for a vigil to remember him last night.
Sadly, he’s another statistic of gun violence involving young people that we don’t seem to be able to curb in any meaningful way.
That’s the way I see it.
