Are YOU ready to move on and go back to normal???????
As the people who own or work for the hundreds of small businesses in Ohio determined to be non-essential in Covid 19 related closing orders issued last month await details on how and if they will be able to start serving customers again on May 1st, some word is expected from Columbus this week on how the state and it’s health department will proceed with a slow process of reopening the state and restarting it’s crippled economy. A new Gallop poll shows 20 percent of the Americans who responded say they favor an immediate end to all pandemic related orders that have impacted their lives. A majority, 79 percent, say they favor waiting to see how the virus plays out, how many new cases are reported and how many lives are claimed by the virus. Patience may soon join things like toilet paper and hand sanitizer being in short supply as the pandemic plays out.
The governors charged with deciding how fast to lift restrictions face some very difficult decisions. If they move too quickly they will be accused by some of being unconcerned about the additional Americans who may contract the virus or die from it. They also know that as time drags on it’s likely more and more people will start to ignore the edicts that have impacted their lives. I for one am glad that I don’t have to play a part in making those decisions.
That’s the way I see it.
