Over the weekend I got to enjoy at least a little something that was a little like normal despite the Coronavirus world we’re living in. I got to enjoy about an hour of an exhibition major league baseball game between the Cleveland Indians and the Pittsburgh Pirates rebroadcast Sunday on the MLB network. I couldn’t see the proceedings of course, but it was obvious that the crowd noise, The player introductions even the cheers that would follow a hit or a catch were recorded and were piped in since no fans are being permitted in the stands as the major league baseball season draws near this Friday. Never mind that the game meant absolutely nothing. It was Major League baseball and some how it was reassuring to this live-sports-starved fan that at least one of the things I’ve come to expect in the summer time will be coming back. We’ll be carrying the Cleveland Indians abbreviated schedule of 2020 games on our sister station 93.1 The Fan, and I for one can’t wait to enjoy those games. That’s the way AI see it.
