Be PROUD of the Next Generation of workers
I had the pleasure Tuesday afternoon of participating in a panel discussion with Delphos Jefferson Senior High School students that explored potential career possibilities in their futures.
Business, Communication, Agriculture, the military and the arts were just some of the career fields represented on the panel.
We answered questions from students who had researched us and the work we do on line, and talked with them about what’s possible and what’s expected in each field.
There was some real common sense advice dished out like show up to work on time, show up to work ready to work every day, leave any drama at home and make sure you can pass a drug test.
There was also broader discussion of the kind of careers that offer the potential of a good living right in our area.
The kids seemed very engaged and asked some very good questions.
My compliments to the city schools officials who organized the discussions and plan others during the current school year.
If we can convince just a few of the students to continue to live and work here after high school or college or military training it will have been a success.
That’s the way I see it.
