The Cleveland Browns regular season hasn’t even yet begun but there are already fans who are thinking they’ll need to buy tickets to watch their brownies play in the 2,020 Super Bowl.
Word from the website “fanatics” that the number 6 jersey that Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield will wear when the team takes the field this Sunday is the top selling jersey in America, is just another sign of the tremendous hype that surrounds their upcoming season.
The Browns have been so bad for so long that it’s kind of cool to hear the high expectations some of their fans have for the season, but some do border on the ridiculous. It’s true that it is easier to go from the worst to one of the best from season to season in the NFL than in any other pro sports league, but it might be wise to be realistic about the expectations that are set for this season.
As a Browns fan old enough to remember when they were really good in the 1960’s, I’d just be happy if the team would have an 8 win season then get ramped up for next year.
I do think anything less than that would be a disappointment, but as a Browns fan disappointment during a football season generally sets in in September.
That’s the way I see it.
