Can the NFL pull it off????????
Tonight is the night for the annual NFL draft but like most everything else in our lives it will be different than ever before. There won’t be a packed room full of sports fans and reporters waiting to see which of the college football players will become the first to be awarded with big contracts for playing football professionally. Instead this year, the event will be conducted from multiple sites across the country because of the Corona Virus pandemic and social distancing guidelines. If it is pulled off without a hitch it will be a true technological miracle.
There’s little suspense as to which player will be chosen as the draft’s first pick with all indications pointing to the team with the first pick, The Cincinnati Bengals, planning to choose Athens Ohio native Joe Burrow to be their choice to try to lead the franchise out of obscurity. The draft event will provide sports fans with something they’ve been missing for almost a month and that’s fresh content, And that’s a good thing even if draft night parties are replaced this year with sports fans watching the event all alone on their couches. That’s the way I see it.
