A story about my 3-year-old grand son that I heard over the weekend highlights the big changes that are coming in the way we view video content these days. In what may have been his first time watching a program on over the air television instead of through one of the streaming services or on his tablet, he couldn’t understand why the program he wanted to watch was interrupted by commercials. At 3 years old, he’s used to watching shows on demand and if he wants more than 1 show at a time. Though he’s only one potential viewer I’m sure there are many others like him. The trend doesn’t spell immediate doom to conventional television, but I’m sure it’s one that advertisers are paying close attention to. As a society we’re getting used to watching what we want, when we want it, without commercial interruption. That’s the way I see it.
