At a time when young people are considering potential career paths, or should be, I’m suggesting today that a new one may show the possibility for real growth.
It’s the job of Talking Point Creator.
I don’t think it would be real stressful.
You’d just have to look at the news of the day and send out your talking points to the people in the media.
They, then, regurgitate the political position you’re paid to promote.
Depending on your chosen spin, you’d write this week about how President Trump was trying to craft a coup, or how fired FBI director James Homey was the worst person ever to run the agency.
You’d write about how the house health care bill would save Americans from financial ruin, or lead to the deaths of grandma or grandpa.
Learning how to do the job wouldn’t take much education either.
You need only watch television or listen to talk radio and you could have it mastered in a matter of weeks.
Watch news coverage on CBS, ABC, NBC, or other networks in what the conservatives love to call the “main stream media” and you’ll hear the same phrases used in covering a story.
And, not to be outdone, the folks on FOX News and conservative radio talk show hosts like Rush, and Shawn seem most days to have swallowed the list of talking points from those on the right.
At a time of increasing political polarization, it’s virtually impossible to locate a place to find objective neutral coverage.
Small wonder that Americans looking for an idea of what’s going on in our country are turning increasingly to what’s become known as the alternative media.
That’s the way I see it.
