A new system of color coding ohio counties based on the level of Coronavirus cases and hospitalizations they’ve experienced will take effect at 6:00 O’clock tonight. The system announced last week will require the wearing of facial coverings in the state’s largest metro areas . The new Ohio Health Department directive recognizes considerable spikes in cases that have been reported in many large metro areas and relatively few numbers and modest increases in counties like those in our area. The directive’s color codes may take some time to get used to like those that were implemented in the days following the 911 terror attacks but they do respond to demands from some business leaders and elected representatives to implement rules and regulations that aren’t the same around Ohio. The color codes will be updated each Thursday and the hope is that Ohioans will take them seriously and take necessary steps to reduce the risk of the spread of the virus among Ohioans who are at greatest risk of serious complications from Covid19. That all makes sense to me. That’s the way I see it.
