DeWine in 2022????????????
Primary election challenges to sitting state wide office holders in Ohio are a bit of a rarity, but it’s beginning to appear that if Ohio Governor Mike Dewine does decide to run for re-election in 2022, he could well face one from with in his own republican party. Steps the governor has taken, or has approved, in hopes of controlling the spread of the Coronavirus since March have caused some within his own Republican party to speak out against him. That’s also something of a rarity in Ohio politics. 4 Ohio House members from the GOP have filed articles of impeachment against the governor, and although their effort isn’t likely to go anywhere in the republican controlled legislative chamber, it does signal the dissatisfaction some with in the republican party feel toward the 73 year old Dewine. The next governors office election is 2 years away and you can expect the campaign to get pretty heated between now and then. That’s the way I see it.
