We are living in the final full day of a political era that’s unlike anything that’s ever been seen before in the long history of our nation. The Donald Trump era in the white house concludes officially on Wednesday and it has been without question one of the most contentious periods in the history of American politics. Any fair future historical look at the Trump term will have to note that the nation experienced a period of unprecedented economic growth during his first 3 years and 2 months in the White House, and that the first nationwide pandemic in a century played a significant roll in his departure after 1 term. There will likely never be an agreement on whether Trump’s language, approach and brash attitude helped to lead to his defeat, or whether the nation is better or worse off because the time Trump spent as president. Donald Trump’s rise to the presidency might be called a Cinderella story if he wasn’t a billionaire businessman before he decided he wanted to be president. His story is a uniquely American phenomenon, with the next chapter to begin when Joe Biden is sworn in as president tomorrow. That’s the way I see it.
