The images of college students living it up on spring break in California and Florida this week that resulted in an outburst of social media backlash from folks who’ve been impacted by the Corona Virus, many of them hunkered down in their homes,  are regrettable but I think a little forgivable too. Regrettable because the young people were either unaware of, or were unconcerned about the possibility that getting together for large parties can have on spreading the virus not just to each other but to the folks at home when they return from break. Forgivable perhaps because we parents and grand parents have raised many of these young people to believe the biggest challenge they’ll face in life is a tough test or the loss  of internet services that would rob them of social media contact.  If we are honest at least some of us, at that age, might have taken that same kind of “devil may care” approach to life. Unfortunately we now know we can’t. That’s the way I see it.
