Perhaps because we are too busy working and living our lives, or maybe it’s because of fear, but it seems most Americans are unwilling to speak out loud about social issues facing our country. But what many seem to be willing to do when it comes to an 81 year old movie classic is speak out with their wallets. Word that HBO MAX was at least temporarily removing the 1939 film Gone With The Wind from it’s offerings earlier this week Was followed quickly by news this morning that the film had reached the number 1 spot on Amazon’s Best Sellers list. The Oscar winning film is set in the Civil War and Reconstruction era, and depicts the racial and ethnic stereotypes of that time. I’ve never had the patience it would take to spend the 3 hours and 58 minutes necessary to take in Gone With The Wind, but I think if you want to watch it you should have the right to do so. That’s the way I see it.
