If there was any doubt that there was a lot of interest in this weeks’ mid-term elections, the TV ratings for election night coverage prove it.
An estimated 32 million of us watched coverage Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, which is the largest number for any mid-term election night since they’ve been charting such things in the 1950’s.
Fox news topped the most-watched list with an estimated 7.5 million viewers, followed in order by, coverage offered by NBC, ABC, and CNN.
The national numbers don’t take into account those who were watching local stations’ coverage of the way we voted.
These are numbers that rival all but the biggest annual sports events.
That’s great news for those of us who worry that, as a nation, we’re becoming increasingly turned off by politics and government.
That’s the way I see it.
