Of all the athletes you may see in person, or on the tube in the next few days, I would argue none will be more impressive than the competitors in the 2018 Paralympic Games that are underwy through March 18th in South Korea.
Athletes with varying types of disabilities from around the world will be competing in many of the same events that brought their “able-bodied” counterparts to South Korea in February for the winter games.
If you get a chance to view the various events, just think about the adversity they’ve had to overcome for a chance to spend a minute in the international spotlight.
For many of these paralympic athletes, marching in the opening parade, or standing for medal presentations isn’t an option.
They’ve advanced to these games by overcoming obstacles many of us would find insurmountable.
They don’t want your pity!
They do deserve our respect and admiration.
That’s the way I see it.
