High School Championships
I’d like to use my blog space today to send out commendations to the Ohio High School Athletic Association, to the coaches players and fans who will be involved in this weekends Ohio high school football state championship games. 6 divisional state champs will be crowned after games that have been moved from a Columbus area site, to Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon because of a stay-at-home order that was issued earlier this week for Franklin county. The move was arranged in little more than 24 hours and it means that games will go on on schedule. It’s obviously a pain for the players and coaches and for fans of New Bremen, Van Wert and Coldwater, many of whom probably had made hotel reservations and other arrangements for the earlier location, but at least the kids will get to play. Students in other sports didn’t get that chance because of the pandemic earlier this year. Like everything else this year, the high school football season in Ohio has been a strange and much-changed season to be sure, but at least it will end with 6 2020 state football champs. That’s the way I see it.
