There Were a lot of eyes on last nights television coverage of the 2020 NFL draft, and they weren’t just the eyes of new content-starved sports fans. The people in charge of Professional football and Major League baseball will have a big interest in learning how large the audience was for the coverage as they try to move forward with plans for games during this season. Like the rest of us, they don’t know how long corona virus related limits on large gatherings will continue likely limiting the number of people who can attend an event. There’s little doubt that as time goes on the clamor from sports fans for live sports entertainment will get louder even if it means games that are played in stadiums with no fans in the seats, with audiences limited to those who can watch the games on tv or listen to them on the radio. Sports may be a small part of the over all picture when it comes to the impact the Corona Virus is having on our lives, but to millions of Americans it is a very important part, and it’s a very welcome diversion too. That’s the way I see it.
