The 20 million fans who tuned in to hear Rush Limbaugh every day hailed him as a patriot, a champion of conservative values and for giving them a powerful voice in politics. His many detractors often blamed him for increasing division in our nation. But love him, or hate him, the passing of Rush Limbaugh yesterday will certainly change the nature of political discourse in America. A strong case could be made I think for the idea that over his 35 year long career Limbaugh did a lot to save A M radio, and that the rise of Donald Trump to power would have been a lot more difficult without him. Despite what I am sure was the best medical care money could buy Limbaugh who’d survived multiple personal attacks over his opinions and the way he delivered them each day couldn’t defeat cancer which claimed his life yesterday morning after a 13 month long fight. That’s a fight that too many people we know very well have unfortunately lost too. That’s the way I see it.
