You may give members of Congress a low grade for the way they work, or don’t work, to solve problems facing our nation, but there is little doubt they get an A in symbolism. The house in Washington as expected Wednesday approved a move to impeach Donald Trump in what many regard as a purely symbolic effort, since there is little if any chance that the U.S. Senate will conduct a required trial before the president leaves office next week. Unlike the first impeachment of Donald Trump, debate on the latest one Wednesday lasted just a few hours, and it’s approval was a foregone conclusion as soon as it was introduced. The latest impeachment may further fracture an already divided American population, but it will have no other real impact. Joe Biden will be sworn in as our next president next Wednesday. Donald Trump’s opponents, both democrats and republicans, will hope that he will go quietly and return to running his businesses and leave politics behind. I don’t think there are many people who think that’s likely to happen at all. That’s the way I se it..
