On a recent weekend get away with our daughter and son and law, and their 2 kids, our 2 and 5 year old grand-sons made a startling discovery.
There it was, right across from the microwave and TV in their Holiday Express motel room, an honest to goodness Desk Phone. You remember the desk phone!
They marveled at it, with its wires, and big buttons, and that hand-set that you had to pick up to talk in to it.
There was no peanut-butter smudged smart phone screen, and you had to leave it right there on the desk.
And when it rang, it went ring-a-ling-a-ling.
They called my bride and I in our room, and we in there room just so they could get to use it.2 days later, the
youngest of them made an even more startling discovery. It was the volume control on grandpa’s big stereo system.
You could turn the music up and down.
You didn’t have to tell Alexa to change the volume or anything.
These discoveries may not stay in their memory banks as they grow up, but they sure did provide some amusement for me.
I did find myself saying maybe the stereo volume was a little too high for their young ears, but I think that’s just what grandpas do.
That’s the way I see it.
