It’s true! I do have an opinion on just about everything. But increasingly as I’ve gotten older I’ve found myself keeping an increasing number of my opinions to myself. However, results of a new national survey I think are worthy of sharing an opinion on what I see as the impact the Coronavirus has had on our overall mental state. A significant number of the respondents to a survey I read about yesterday described Thanksgiving Day as the most stressful holiday of their entire lives. It’s not that the holiday last week wasn’t significantly impacted by Covid19 because of course it was. I do wonder what lack of life experiences would lead one to thank it was their most stressful holiday ever. Have they never spent a holiday with someone who had recently passed away missing from a chair at their dinner table? Had they never spent a holiday with a family member absent in a hospital or in harms way in the military? Had they never spent a holiday with someone diagnosed with a serious illness wondering if it might be their last holiday together? Apparently not! There are many reasons to feel stress in the pandemic world we’re living in right now. I’m not sure that a changed Thanksgiving holiday is one of them. That’s the way I see it.
