Masks and limiting Patrons…………..
The products of a new state wide order and a state health department suggestion are providing further evidence of the way our lives have changed in less than a month because of the Covid 19, Corona Virus pandemic. A new order which actually takes effect at midnight tonight requires all Ohio grocery and retail stores determined to be essential to begin limiting the number of patrons inside at any one time. At one local big box retailer that limit was 100 on Saturday. I was one of a number of people who waited outside the store hoping that those inside hadn’t picked Saturday as the day they would just look around and would get what they wanted and leave quickly. The atmosphere outside was very organized and orderly and strangely very quiet too.
You may soon see folks wearing masks as they patronize businesses that are open in Ohio in the coming days, at the suggestion of Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton. A month ago if you’d have shown up in a store wearing a mask it might have resulted in a call to the cops. I know you join me in hoping that the steps our state has taken in hopes of controlling the spread of the Corona Virus will be successful in curbing a surge of cases we are told we should expect in the next couple of weeks. That’s the way I see it.
