That state up north is known for some excellent recreational areas and lakes, some outstanding tourist attractions and for some pretty fair football and basketball. But of late, as the state of Michigan deals with a big increase in Coronavirus cases, government officials there seem to be doing their best to perfect another sport “the blame game.”. Michigan’s coronavirus case numbers right now are among some of the highest in the nation. Some health experts there blame the increases that are being seen on virus variants and on transmission between school children, many of whom have returned to their classrooms for the first time since the start of the pandemic. Democrat Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who’s authored some of the most restrictive health mandates in the nation that have been in effect for 13 months, blames former president Donald Trump, who she says didn’t have a strategy for dealing with the virus. That’s something she says has changed with the new Joe Biden Presidency. She has promised to try to deal with the coronavirus case increases by lobbying the Biden administration for an increase in virus vaccines. As the finger pointing continues, it seems likely that area residents who like to spend time in Michigan will be facing continuing indoor and outdoor mask requirements and other health restrictions when they travel north this Summer. That’s the way I see it.
