This is not just a Thursday in January, It’s National Pie Day. We can thank a nuclear engineer, bowler and teacher from Colorado who decided to declare his birthday National Pie Day back in the 1970’s for the designation. As you might expect, the American Pie Council got on board to promote the idea, to the point that it’s in the national news spotlight today. The pie council says today is a great day to forget about those diets and enjoy some desert, regardless of what your favorite pie variety is. My personal favorites include Pumpkin Pie which I think is unfortunately too often confined to Thanksgiving Day meals. Pecan Pie and Lemon Miring are a close second and third for me. But anything that even resembles pie is ok with me, even on any day other than National Pie Day. That’s the way I see it.
