As residents of nursing homes in parts of ohio prepare to be among the first to be offered a Coronavirus vaccine today, talk about hopes that the vaccine might bring the spread of the virus under control seems to ve overshadowing talk about how the pandemic has affected our lives since March. There are real hopes out there that if enough people get vaccinated life may some day return to normal, even if the people saying it aren’t so sure that they will be willing to get vaccinated. Putting politics aside, I think we can all agree that the development of a concoction that can inoculate someone against the virus in less than a year is something we can all be proud of, and something we should be grateful for. Such quick work wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless work of scientists and medical specialists and without billions of dollars in cash from the Trump administration. This appears to be one case in which the federal government has actually come through for us. That’s the way I see it.
