Orlena…..brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr……..
Unless you watched the Weather Channel sometime over the weekend, you probably didn’t know that the winter storm that dropped snow on our area had a name. It was called “winter storm Orlena” and if you did watch the Weather Channel you might be thinking that people in the northeastern U.S. should be prepared this week for the worst winter storm in memory. Because several inches of snow and blowing snow are predicted in places like New York City, Boston and Washington DC, the storm is making a lot of news this morning. At least for a day or so, talk about the weather seemed to replace the corona virus as a top topic of conversation in our area. Because people who live here know that it snows this time of year, and when it does you have to slow down if you’re traveling, there were relatively few traffic crashes reported in our region Saturday night or Sunday. It’s been pretty quiet winter weather-wise so far this season and as we try to emerge from the Covid19 pandemic, that’s provided a bright spot at a time when we could all use one. That’s the way I see it.
