In response to a story about possible covid 19 health consequences from being sprayed with tear gas I wrote in my blog last Friday that I didn’t know anyone who’d ever been sprayed with the stuff. Well, it turns out that was inaccurate. I learned during a swimming pool conversation over the weekend that our daughter, our late son and a nephew were sprayed with tear gas some years ago. As the story goes, they were leaving an Ohio State football game when they happened on to a disturbance and were hit with it as police cleared the area. We were never told of it because I guess there was no need for us to know. As a young parent one of the most unnerving things is when old friends from your high school days tell your kids about things you did back in the day. As you get older, the tables turn. Our kids share stories of things they did while they were growing up that they hadn’t bothered to tell us. Are their other stories? I’m sure there are. I just hope I live long enough to hear all of them. That’s the way I see it.
