Santa Claus and May 1st.
The feeling I got when I first heard that Ohio Governor Mike DeWine had indicated that the start of a slow process to reopen Ohio would begin May 1st reminded me of the way I felt decades ago as a small child waiting for Christmas and the arrival of Santa Claus. There are a multitude of questions about how modifications will occur, and the speed at which things may begin to return to normal, but there is anticipation too. At least today, it appears there may be a dim light at the end of the Corona Virus Pandemic tunnel we’ve all been living in. The governor has indicated that our lives won’t get back to normal completely until there is a Corona Virus vaccine but many of us will just be happy to be able to go to church, enjoy happy-hour with our friends or go out for a meal at our favorite restaurant. As what is largely voluntary compliance with the restrictions we’ve been living under for nearly a month continues, it is clear that frequent hand washing, mask wearing in public and some form of social distancing will be part of the way we live for some time to come. That’s the way I see it.
