I had a great time broadcasting Monday from the newly remodeled McDonalds restaurant in downtown Lima.
The Lewis family McDonalds folks are always such gracious hosts, and the food and coffee were great too.
The highlight of my day was when a little boy named Noah came up to introduce himself to me.
I don’t think he knew who I was, but just heard me talking on the speaker system and wanted to watch and say hello.
At 9 years old, he reminded me of a time long ago when an 8 or 9 year old blind kid named Bob met a DJ doing a remote from some function in Toledo.
My parents encouraged me to meet him and ask questions.
And he answered every one of them in a friendly fashion that I never forgot while also helping to continue what was already an interest of mine in some day being on the radio.
I wouldn’t pretend to think that Noah will remember his encounter with me as much as I did mine, but there’s always a chance.
We never know when we may make a difference or spark an interest in a future career.
In the meantime, Noah made my day.
That’s the way I see it.
