I’ve waited well over a day to write a blog about the decision by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban to stop playing the National Anthem at the start of his National Basketball Association team’s games waiting to see if the time would come that I would care. It still hasn’t! I still don’t! The billionaire team owner’s statement that his decision to drop the anthem isn’t being done out of disrespect for the country or it’s flag is I think ridiculous, but he is a business owner and he has a right to do what he wants with his business. I’m sure Cuban enjoys the publicity that has come with his decision and I am equally sure that he is unconcerned about the social media backlash that has resulted. Put me in the category of people who find pro sports a lot less entertaining than I once did, but those of us who bemoan the “cancel culture” that we see spreading our country can’t have it both ways. Cuban has a right to do what he wants, and we have the right to care about what he does, or not! That’s the way I see it..
